The Point, Boogie Boarding, And Kahuku Grill

Since Seth has to be back to campus to teach, we all came back to the North Shore. It was fun to be with friends because no matter where we went it was fun. Just fun to be together. The weather was a bit rainy to start with, so we went out to Laie point to watch the big waves(they were actually kind of wimpy that day). But kids like to scamper around to the giant rocks and see the dead crabs.

We walked over to Temple beach and the kids found this giant fisherman's net. They spent some time pulling it out of the water to keep the animals safe. They are obviously up on their Diego shows.
This is how Jake and I take on the ocean. He jumps on my back! He even caught a couple waves with me. He is still a bit intimidated of the ocean and will only really go in with me holding him. Not like the little Hawaiian kids who are body surfing at age two. Jake needs to be a bit braver I think. :)
But he's my little buddy and leech. He did learn to hold his breath under water this week since we had access to a pool. The hot tub was turned down and Jayne gave him (quote)"swimming lessons." It consisted of her holding him and dunking him under water. Whatever method she was using worked, since he started dunking himself and coming up with a smile. He didn't close his eyes at all, but definitely learned how to hold his breath. We then had to keep a close watch on him because he would throw himself into the deep of the hot tub to "swim." Then he would come out of the water and raise his hands in the air and say "I did it!" Awe, its going to take a lot to raise this one to adulthood. Soon he'll be body surfing on his own. Below is the three of us after catching a wave. Fun stuff.

After a fun and tiring day boogie boarding we found ourselves at our favorite burger place- Kahuku Grill. The best burgers and fries on the island!

Everyone posing for the picture- Sam and Jake,

 Jayne and Ellie,

 Brian and Seth!

Here's little miss hotty herself. Sporting her hottest surfing outfit ever. She got fried to a crisp on Monday when she and the kids spent 14 hours at the beach and pool. So we covered her crispy little shoulders and she spent the day catching some waves. No shoes of coarse, so she is one happy little muffin.

After a long day and drive home, we finally wore him out. He is actually holding still. As short timer to sleep. It was a great day.
