Our Home

This is our new house. We live with 6 other families. Our part of the a house is the far left main floor. Our car is parked in front of it. The garage isn't ours, but we don't mind parking on the lawn in front.

This isn't a very good picture of us, but this is our front porch. We have a kitchen, living room, three bedrooms and two bathrooms. It's perfect. We have the very minimal furniture-a kitchen table, 2 couches, a crib, 2 dressers, 1 single bed, 1 full bed, and two twins pushed together for Seth and I. We are loving the simplicity of life.

Our house sit on a corner with a round-about in the road. From the round-about in this direction you see the LDS Temple, about three blocks away. It is a beautiful road and an even more beautiful temple. We feel very blessed to be so close to it.
Across the street is Laie Elementary school where the kids love to go play.
Turning the other direction, one block away is the beach. The locals call this it Temple Beach, but I think it has a Hawaiian name as well. Its a great beach that we have already spent some time at.
And then the other direction, about three blocks away, is the main entrance to BYU Hawaii. Seth just walks there when he goes on campus. I did have that picture but here is our house from the round-about. I chose it because it had a picture of our car, the green Odyssey parked in front of it. We named her Mahana, because she's kind of ugly, but she shows us the beauties of this island. She is quite a gem actually. Cars here are usually sand fill and rusted due to the salt air. But Mahana's pervious owner was military and took great care of her inside and out. We knew we were very blessed to find her.
But this is really how we like to travel in Laie- our bikes. The first Sunday we were here I sat next to a cute little lady and her husband in Sunday School. They travel here every year for 5 weeks or so. They buy bikes to get around. She took interest in our story and decided to adopted us for the next couple weeks while we were here. She showed up and help me with laundry, moving from the beach house to our new house, and watched the kids while we went to on date. She is a real sweet heart. Then she told us when they left they wanted us to have their bikes. We came home yesterday after a trip to town(Honolulu), with the bikes on our porch. What a treat. Ellie and Jayne were both given bikes as well from some friends, and we bought a bike seat for Jakers when we were in town. So only Sam is without a bike but he can ride Seth's cruiser when he isn't using it. And if you know our family, you know that we LOVE bikes.
Check out Jake in his new ride. He loves this little seat because he feels like he can see everything and if you can see his little hands, they are on the handle bars helping me steer. He kept cheering while we rode. We went and picked up a fruit basket I had ordered, went to the post office, and then the grocery store. All were in 5 blocks of each other, but it was great fun on the bikes. Thanks to all who donated their bikes to us.
